A space for students of color to humanize their narratives, to reclaim the insipid generalizations, and to have a space for discourses relating to the bevy of topics that are unorthodox from high school school curricula.
Tertulias. Una tertulia es una conversación sobre temas fuera de conversaciones típicas de todos los días: el arte, la literatura, la política, la cultura, y la academia; es decir las cosas que no se mencionan en la currícula en el colegio. En este caso, se ha convertido como una plataforma por los estudiantes de color para humanizar las historias y los intereses

“Las reuniones informales y periódicas, donde se congrega gente interesada en un mismo tema para debatir, informarse y compartir opiniones. Se considera que una tertulia de buen nivel puede ser un excelente instrumento educativo. Además, las tertulias permiten fomentar la amistad, estrechar las relaciones sociales y enriquecer la cultura de los asistentes.”
The purpose of this series is to reconceptualize the ontological basis of a tertulia, keeping its foundation of the intellectual and literary platform, to humanize students of color's narratives. This version is an attempt to demystify the stigma about the millennial generation and our purported incapability to have substantive discourse regarding politics, culture, identity, history, art, literature, and other miscellaneous disciplines. These conversations have become my biggest inspirations in continuing to amplify our narratives & demand our humanity amid all of the insipid stereotypes propagated in a sociopolitical reality where demagoguery and machiavellian forces are lionized. Disrupting academically, as always.
